One person was sent to hospital following an overnight fire that destroyed a garage at a home in Cambridge.

Cambridge Fire crews and Waterloo Region police responded to the fire at a home on Dundas Street South around 3 a.m. on Tuesday.

Fortunately the garage was not attached to the house and firefighters were able to contain the fire to the building.

A woman suffered minor burns to her face, hands and feet while trying to douse the blaze and was transported to Cambridge Memorial Hospital. She is expected to recover.

Police say damage is estimated around $100,000 and foul play is not suspected.

A wood stove and flammable liquids like gasoline were found inside the garage and firefighters say they could have sparked the fire.
