Friday's the right day to put a smile on someone else's face by joining in on Random Act of Kindness Day.

The Kitchener and Waterloo Community Foundation is asking people to do something nice for someone else, in the hopes that they will pass it on.

The festivities were in full swing at several locations very early on Friday morning.

At Conestoga Mall ‘Kaptain Kindness' and his ‘Kindness Krew' did their part to get others into the giving mood, including handing out a hot breakfast.

At Waterloo Square motivational speaker Deb Loyd is handing out ‘I love your smile' buttons to strangers in the street and even offering them a hug.

Loyd says "I love this day, Random Act of Kindness Day, because it reminds us to be kind to one another every day, and smiling is contagious. When you look at someone and smile you can't help but smiling back."

People in the area were receptive to the idea, and many say people should be more considerate every day and try harder to connect with others in the community.
