A million dollar fire has caused major damage to a local trucking company. It took almost five hours, fifty firefighters and fourteen trucks to put out the blaze at Jeff Bryan Transport in Burford near Brantford.

The Bryan family was en route to the cottage for thanksgiving weekend a three hour drive from their headquarters. When they arrived at the cottage they got the bad news.

The fire started in the back of the building on Friday night. There was no one there at the time, but fire crews say there were some trucks being repaired in that area which may be related to the blaze.

Owner Jeff Bryan says they are lucky the fire was contained to the back and didn't spread to the office where documents could have been destroyed.

Fire crews may not be able to get in the building safely until Tuesday.

Officials say it took so long to put out the fire because part of the roof collapsed and they had to extinguish from above. There is also a lot of steel in the building which doesn't burn but blocked access to the fire below.
