Hundreds of people are estimated to have attended a meeting to learn more about wind turbines in Sebringville on Tuesday evening.
The public information session, hosted by the group West & East Perth Against Turbines, is trying to spread the message that doing nothing is not an option.
Activists are concerned about plans for more wind turbine developments in Ontario, including one slated for Sebringville.
The group is encouraging residents to learn more by asking their MPP about the plans and the possible long-term impact the turbines could have on their health and well-being.
There are reports that some people living near wind turbines have complained about sleep disorders and headaches.
Tom Melady, a member of West & East Perth Against Turbines, says "It splits the community. It definitely causes health problems. The province is not listening to what we're saying and we just want to inform other people of the problems that could come to their area of Sebringville."
Ontario's chief medical officer has maintained there is no evidence wind turbines can cause poor health.
On a visit to the Siemens plant slated to build wind turbine blades on Monday, Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty said the projects will make the province a green energy leader and create jobs.
