The family a missing 28-year-old Cambridge man now fears the worst, but are still hoping for the best.

Sitthideth ‘Lu' Insixiengmay was last seen leaving his home around 5:15 a.m. on Jan. 15 in the area of Wellington and Bond Streets.

His family says he went out to get cigarettes and only took his coat and his debit card. He hasn't been seen or heard from since then.

His brother Nick Insixiengmay says they've received a lot of support since Lu went missing, "It's been helpful having friends and family come over."

Police found the missing man's jacket on the banks of Mill Creek about five days after he disappeared and say his debit card hasn't been used.

Nick says they've also searched the waterways in that area and down along the Grand River nearly all the way to Brantford but found nothing.

Firefighters, police and family are continuing their search, while family members have also been putting up posters throughout the neighbourhood.

Nick admits he's prepared for anything right now, "I've thought of every scenario possible, even the worst. It's tough to say, but you have to prepare yourself mentally for the worst and hope for a miracle."

Family friend Delio Ribeiro says he's know Lu since he was a child, "He was always on the go. It's killing me that he disappeared and there's no sight of him."

Insixiengmay is described as male, Asian, 5'6", 130 lbs with short, spiked black hair. He was last seen wearing a down-filled Tommy Hilfiger brand jacket.

Anyone who may have information about his whereabouts is asked to call police at 519-653-7700 Ext. 2298.
