The Waterloo Regional Police Service has arrested three people after an armed holdup at a Cashmax Payday Loans location in Kitchener on Thursday.

Police say they got the call about the robbery at around 10:40 a.m., and quickly sealed off the area. The three men were located and arrested shortly afterwards.

Waterloo Regional Police Insp. Greg Lamport says the men remain in custody and are being questioned.

An abandoned van was also found nearby on Weber Street and has been taken for forensic examination by police.

The same Cashmax location was robbed by three men wearing disguises in mid-December.

There were also similar armed holdups at two jewellery stores in the Fairview Park Mall in December and on Jan. 5 at a jewellery store in the Conestoga Mall.

It remains unclear if all of the incidents are connected.

Lamport says "The investigation is continuing. At this point we are going to be looking into a link or a connection to the other robberies that have occurred within our region in the last few months."
