Ontario Provincial Police say a 47-year-old Kitchener man is dead, and a 25-year-old Guelph man has been airlifted to Hamilton General hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries after a snowmobile crash at Puslinch Lake near Cambridge.

OPP say the collision happened just after 1:00 p.m. on Sunday. A snowmobile travelling in an westerly direction collided with another snowmobile that was travelling northbound on the frozen ice surface. The lake surface was being used by dozens of other snowmobilers who were travelling in all directions.

According to Constable Mark Cloes, the OPP cannot enforce snowmobile speed laws because the incident took place on a lake where there are no speed limits, and because the lake is considered private property.

OPP continue with their investigation.
