The bitter cold is being blamed after the body of 41-year-old Neeland Rumble of Sarnia was found in a field next to Golf Course Line near Ridgetown.
He was reportedly found Tuesday afternoon about 50 metres from his vehicle, which was stuck in a snow drift. An autopsy found the cause of death to be extended exposure.
The Blenheim native is described by loved ones as a trustworthy, loyal and cheerful man who loved his family, mathematics and the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Rumble was reportedly driving to a solar farm near Ridgetown, where he worked for a security company.
The location is about 75 kilometres from where the worst of the week's snow storm shut down Highway 402 in the Sarnia area and the military was brought in to help rescue stranded motorists.
However, a series of snow squall warnings and watches have been in effect across southwestern Ontario in recent days.
