Emergency crews rushed to a burning house on Louisa Street in Kitchener this afternoon.

The fire broke out around 4:30 pm on the front porch of the home. The homeowner was trying to extinguish the fire when a passerby noticed and called 9-1-1.

Jazlyn Longmire was on her way to have dinner when she saw the flames.

"They were really high, like on all of the front area and everything," said Longmire.

The owner of the home has been taken to Grand River Hospital with minor injuries.

Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the blaze but say it does not appear to be suspicious.
