A unique structure is going up in St. Agatha, west of Waterloo. It's a five classroom building that replaces the previous 40-year-old facility, and it comes in pre-built sections.

The new facility will host day treatment programs for children living in residence and those from the community who attend school at kidsLINK.

Laura Bergeron is the interim program manager at kidsLINK. She says "kidsLINK offers a broad range of services for kids, families and youth experiencing social emotional and mental health challenges."

In 2009, kidsLINK help more than 11,000 children aged five to 12.

Bergeron adds that she is "really excited to have a new setting for them, to really give them a caring, nurturing environment."

All 18 pieces of the building, which was built in Grimsby, Ont., arrived on steel frames and include windows, painted drywall, cupboards and sinks.

All of the modules are expected to be in place by Wednesday night.

Project manager Frank Klatecki says "We know everything fits because basically there's an entire building coming that they've already had assembled."

Bergeron hopes that once the pre-fab building is assembled, staff will be able to set up over the Christmas break, and it will be ready for students to start school on Jan. 4, 2011.

Another unique feature of the building is that it will be heated and cooled using a geothermal system.

Two thirds of the $1.3 million building was covered by federal stimulus funding.
