A home owner is lucky to be alive after going to bed and leaving a wood burning stove unattended.

Police and fire crews were called to a house on Park Avenue in Cambridge at about 11:30 pm on Friday.

They say a spark from the stove landed on a nearby couch, which ignited the house fire.

The owner woke up to the sound of smoke detectors and managed to escape without any injuries.

Police say damage is about $100,000.
